Happy NYE!

I’m not a party girl--trust me, I tried--and I have work in the early AM, but I hope those of you who can celebrate do it safely and well! We’re gearing up for a nasty election year in the US in 2020, so that will be an experience, but if we band together, there is nothing we cannot do!

This outfit is not really a NYE outfit as much as it's a normal outfit just worn on NYE. I'll be bringing in 2020 the same I brought in 2019: tired.

I was gifted this dress on Poshmark with a purchase, and it’s not my style—it’s much more mature than I really go for—but I wanted to challenge myself with it. But, I failed, because I added a coat and basically hated this, so, enjoy my failure!

When it’s Sunday and you know people are probably sick of seeing the red skirt but you have the need to wear it.

I know I've been wearing this red skirt a lot recently, but I mean, look at it! It's gorgeous and I just have to wear it while I can. I wanted to experiment and wear it with more red things, and I like this outfit. It's almost monochrome, but not!

The laziest holiday outfit ever. The holidays are tiring. Let me be lazy.

I kid, but this outfit is so...uninspired--it's just a sweater and a skirt. Which, I guess is what you can boil most of my outfits down to, but this one is just pure laziness. The interest comes in with the plaid skirt and pattern of the sweater. So, though it's not ~~basic, it's still basic.

This is my favorite scarf, though you wouldn’t know it. I bought it years ago when I was obsessed with English fashion YouTubers because they all had long, red plaid scarves and wore them with leather jackets, so here is an homage to my 20 year old self who wanted nothing but to be a cool girl.

I hope your Christmas was a good one! It's Boxing Day for the UK, Canada and other places, but not here in the US, so I'm stuck in that weird transit between Christmas and New Year, and it's already a weird one! I'm still in that festive mood, which I guess is okay, since it's still technically the Holidays, so enjoy the buffalo plaid! I don't think buffalo plaid is necessarily festive, but the red makes it feel like it is to me. As I said, red is a Christmas color to me.

Aren't I looking festive? The snow (and festive decorations) help to sell that it's Christmas! I hope that, wherever you are and what ever you celebrate, you have a wonderful and safe Wednesday.

"One kind word can warm three winter months."

Happy Sunday, and the first full day of winter, all! It's warmer than usual here, but it's by no stretch warm, so I'm staying nice and toasty in this thick sweater I thrifted last year. It's technically a men's from Express that I got for like, $8, and it's so stiff that I'm able to fold it under itself on me, so it's not so long and bulky under skirts. It's so so so warm!

If you were wondering, I'm definitely still compensating for the lack of red on the tree by dressing like a tree skirt. It's a good life.

So, yeah, I'm still totally and irrevocably in love with this plaid skirt and you will see all winter, especially leading up to Christmas. It's perfect! I added navy blouse under the red sweater, and tucked into the plaid skirt, and ted a white ribbon for some cute visual interest. I then added my red beret for coordination, and the outfit is complete! It's a great outfit for festive last minute shopping, which is definitely what's on the agenda.

My husband and I went out for lunch and he looked me up and down at the restaurant and called me extra, which I cannot tell if is a good thing or a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with being a little extra, is there?

I love when I wear this poncho because it's so large and warm and dramatic, which is right up my alley. It is a poncho, regardless of how I choose to wear it, but it does lean on the side of it being a cape when I wear it without sticking my arms through the designated arm area, which is probably why my husband called me extra. I knew I wanted to wear this poncho today, so I wanted to coordinate with a red sweater and silvery blue grey skirt to match the poncho, and with the addition of my red beret, it's a matchy matchy outfit that I just really really love!

Can we talk about the major heart eyes I have for this skirt? I've been lusting over a long plaid skirt for years, but in an effort to shop more sustainably and ethically, I wanted to buy one secondhand. I found this one by chance on eBay and I had to absolutely grab it. It doesn't have a brand tag on the inside, but it's not matter to me, it's GORGEOUS.

I wanted to play with the reds of the skirt with the red coat, but then also keep the top neutral by tucking in a cream sweater. The colors play together so nicely, because I picked colors that already existed in the skirt and repeated them throughout.

This scarf pops against the monotone black of the outfit and really gives off that cool girl vibe that I just don't fit in with! I'm the total opposite of a cool girl, and that's totally fine, but it doesn't mean I don't want to channel that vibe sometimes!

Happy Monday!

I think the 5" of snow currently sitting, untouched, outside and the incoming extra 4" that's expected tonight make it very clear: fall is over.

I think fall ended when the leaves all fell off because of a windstorm. Or, when December arrived and the chill felt more like Christmas than the crispness of fall. Or, maybe it was when I started thinking more of the new year and less about the end of this one.

I don't usually think of this skirt as being holiday, though it was clearly fitted for it with the pleats and the color. I usually wear it when I'm headed to the office, with a neutral blouse and the normal business casual look, but paired with navy and red, it's a holiday masterpiece! I wanted to keep the outfit casually cute and layered, so I put my favorite collar under a black sweater and tucked it into the skirt, and then tied a navy bow under the collar in a bow for a cute touch. Then, as it is going to snow, I added a pop of color with a red coat and a red beret to match.

This is this skirt's last hurrah for this year, it's definitely getting too cold to expose this much of a leg, even if there are tights on them.

Shoutout to my husband for sharing a closet with me and not minding when I wear his shirts. You can't really even tell, but it's a polka dotted chambray shirt that's under that red sweater! As I said before, I love red and blue together!

The last time I wore this dress, I wore it with a hat and a faux leather jacket for a more casual, edgy vibe, but for this outfit, I wanted to keep it romantic. I added old star shaped hair clips to my hair and a coordinating star belt to cinch my waist and I gotta say, it's such a showstopper! I love the contrasting metal with the softness of the dress, and the tiers, sleeves and neck tie add to the drama that the shiny metal offers the outfit!

I've seen this ongoing trend with some sustainable fashion Instagrammers where they don't tuck in their sweaters into skirts, they instead let it hang over, or hand over and belt it. I, personally, hate to lose my waist in an outfit, so I always tuck or half-tuck my sweater in, but I decided to try something different and I am sorry to say I am not a fan. Maybe if the sweater was longer? I just don't like it

I really love the combination of navy/indigo and red. It's not a groundbreaking color combination, of course, but it's a definite love of mine.

This blouse is old and way too thin to be wearing in winter, but it has a red heart motif, which is absolutely the cutest. I decided to style it more Holiday appropriate and not so much Valentine's, by adding my trusty old Modcloth plaid shawl, red beret and navy tights for a coordinated and cute late fall/early winter outfit!

It went from 52 to 25 in a matter of hours so this coat is a definite need today.

I love a colorful coat, as they're a far departure from the usual blacks and neutrals you see in the cold weather months and this one is nearly 6 years old now! When I buy clothes, I tend to keep and wear them for years, which means I rarely feel the need to buy more clothes, as I tend to not follow fashion trends anymore.

I'm mad for (buffalo) plaid. It's time to bust out my favorite vintage coat and infuse some red into the seemingly already winter season.

It's almost sad that coats are needed now--I know it's December and December is synonymous with winter, but coat season always arrives so fast! I wanted to keep this outfit both worry free, which means to say lazy and comfy, and also warm, as it's a cold Monday here and I, unfortunately, have to actually leave my home. I tucked this lacy pleated vintage blouse into a black pleated skirt with a coordinated black tights and black ankle boots. I added my favorite red beret to match the coat and I'm sorry not sorry that I overwear this beret. I like red, it's the season of red!

There isn't any red on our tree, so I'm compensating in my outfits. I'm a human tree skirt.

Now, don't get me wrong, our tree could have red, and it did have red, but, we wanted to change up our tree and went with a silver, gold, silver and green theme, which makes for both a gorgeous tree and also an unintentionally mature tree, which was unexpected for us!

Though I styled this more ~~edgy, this dress is definitely a perfect Holiday dress. I mean, it's still great, but I admit, I'm not wearing it to it's full potential!

I find minor pattern mixing with plaid and stripes is easy, as plaids is technically just lines, and so are stripes, so naturally, they go together!

Today is a day of errands and this outfit is great for errands. The moto jacket is the perfect eye catcher, so you're turning heads while doing the mundane, which to me, is fantastic. The skirt is flowy and comfy and the sweater is warm!

Peep that tree! During my little break from the internet, we put up the tree and decorated for the winter holidays! Neither my husband nor I are overtly religious, but we both agree that Christmas, or just Yule in general, is something we like to celebrate, and seeing as we didn't have the best Holiday season last year, we're determined to make it better this year via making our apartment a winter wonderland.

I have many many pairs of colorful tights, and they are hands down my favorite to wear, but I just can't seem to find the confidence to wear them out and about nowadays. I think it's the fact that it draws a lot of attention to my legs (like having giant thigh tattoos doesn't already do that) and I spend far less effort with my bottom half of outfits than I do with the top. Maybe I should fix that...
