Welcome to July! It's supposed to be one of the hottest months of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, and if mid to late June was hot and humid than I am not looking forward to July.

This dress is picnic ready. If we lived near the water, believe me, I'd be wearing this dress, social distancing with a mask on and living my best life water side.

I'm not going to lie, I have worn this outfit like 7 times already. It is so effortless and makes people think you know what you're doing when you're just being comfortable!

In my years of wearing clothing with more intention, I have noticed that people compliment you when you make no effort with your outfit. I don't go out seeking compliments with my outfits, don't get me wrong, but, overproduction of an outfit just usually ends up with people eyeing you, trying to decipher what you're wearing, which is a weird experience, especially as someone who is categorized as plus size.

Another day, another pink and yellow outfit. I said it yesterday, but, it's a combination I didn't expect liking as much as I truly do!

A little pink, a whole lotta yellow. Berets are not summer hats, admittedly, but I don't have a pink hat (yet) and this outfit begs for a hat.

Pink and yellow is a combination that I never thought I'd go for, but, here I am, wearing it pretty regularly, and I am not at all upset at it! It's a refreshing, warm weather inspired combination that makes me so happy.

Coral and yellow, who would have thought it would be such a good look?

The color combo of the coral in the dress worn as a top, the dark yellow of the skirt, and the pink in the belt and sandals makes a colorful summery outfit and screams sunshine! Too bad the weather is dreary and is spitting rain out!

Is it too hot for a jacket? Absolutely, but it is a look.

In an attempt to wear this tiered blouse as varied as possible, I layered it over my denim skirt and added a denim jacket in a different hue for a nod to the Canadian Tuxedo.

T G I F. I know I am not the only one who shares that sentiment this week. This week has been a roller coaster and I am immeasurably thankful it's Friday.

This dress is not a wrap dress, as much as it looks like it is! It's a faux wrap, and I never thought I'd say this, but, I prefer a genuine wrap dress over a faux one. I don't have the the chest to fill out this dress, and I'll have to tack this dress shut in a few places to avoid flashing people. I love yellow and brown together, so I styled this dress with  wide brown belt and coordinated with a brown panama hat and brown d'orsay flats.

Happy Friday!

Blue and yellow do technically go together, even if they do scream college football. I like this steel-y blue off the shoulder number under this yellow midi skirt. It's a sweet summer outfit that's not too dramatic for Wednesday, but it is also not a particularly an expected one, and that is what I live for.

Summer has arrived and so have the high temperatures and the blazing sun. This skirt is not a skirt, it's a scarf tied and belted to look like a skirt, which is both super functional by extending the life of a seasonal item like a scarf, and it's lightweight, meaning it breathes and I'm not sweaty. Win-win, as far as I am concerned.

Brown is a summer color. I think it's an all season color, actually, like pink and yellow are for me, but, I have to officially declare it as so. Brown is such a great grounding color for an outfit and it's also wonderful as the main color! I styled this scarf skirt with an off the shoulder white blouse and added a straw hat and basic brown slide sandals to keep it light and keep the brown as the highlight. Brown is a summer color.

If there was ever a time to dress like a beach ball, it's when it's hot and humid out.

I live in a landlocked state with no real ocean viewing beach. The Great Lakes are like, 3 hours north, but, there is no salt water or hazy silhouettes of cruise ships in the distance. You take the beach for granted when it's your backyard, but without it, you realize how much you really miss it.

I wore a very similar outfit around this time last year, and I really liked it, so it's back for the new meteorological season! I like the way this wrap dress (which was my first one ever!) fits my top, but I hate the length of it, so adding a skirt is a necessary move for me. I think the blue denim and the pink dress work well together, and it makes for a comfy casual Sunday outfit.

Happy Sunday!

I know this dress looks like it, but I promise, I'm not going all prairie-chic on you all. I saw this dress teased a few weeks ago by LoveShackFancy and I knew that I had to have it because it looks like the ultimate casual summer dress.

I'm only being slightly sarcastic when I say it's casual, because, in general, it is very comfy and not all uncomfortable. I define casual as something that is comfortable and wearable for day-to-day activities, and I mean, that's what this is.

I realized that when I started appropriating my work clothes into my normal wardrobe, I never showed this blouse. This blouse is definitely more of a fall piece, as it's a heavy satin, but, when I saw it folded in one of my storage boxes, I knew I needed to wear it.

This dress is a recent thredUP purchase, and it's going to come in handy. I have some black dresses, but not any with shape in the waist, and for layering purposes, it's always good to have a defined waist. I will definitely need to shorten this length, I am not tall enough for this!

Welcome back, short denim skirt, it's been a while!

I bought this skirt last year for the Indiana State Fair, because, I needed something functional and lightweight and thought a denim skirt would be the answer. And, it was! It's just a basic denim skater skirt, but, its a summer piece that really lends itself to casualizing outfits.

I paired the skirt with a yellow floral off the shoulder top for a comfy, cool and casual look for the day!

It's not super obvious, but, I am inspired by the late 1910s and 1940s silhouette with clothing. I'm not idealizing the times, don't get me wrong, I just like the silhouette! This isn't a real rendition of that, but, to me, it has the vibe.

This button down blouse is originally from Lane Bryant, but, I got it from thredUp. I don't actually own any traditional, basic, blouses like this, so, I thought it would be a nice addition! I paired it with a thrifted yellow skirt and a straw hat for some casual but put together summer vibes.

For full transparency, I am a thredUP ambassador on Instagram, so I was offered a credit to buy an item or items on thredUP and create monthly posts.

Isn't this top dreamy? It's apart of my last Poshmark bundle for the Spring/Summer, as I am happy with the warm weather wardrobe I have built. It's pink, of course, and it is so lightweight, which is great for the weather! It's, admittedly, too warm for jeans, but, as I'm not going anywhere, it's fine for the AC home in which I am responsibly staying in.

This coral dress radiates summer energy, it just does. It's been hot, sunny and stormy lately, which makes bare shoulders even more necessary. It's Sunday, and it's a very somber Sunday. With the pandemic still roaring, and the tragic killing of George Floyd, it doesn't at all seem like a normal Sunday, and, it shouldn't be.

It's rare that I am public about how I feel about the things that happen in the real world, but I should note that I am not a complacent ally to the Black Lives Matter movement. I am an active proponent for reform of all kinds, including police, and I have been for nearly a decade. This tragic death is another senseless killing of a black person and it has come to a boiling point.

It doesn't seem right to talk about fashion, but it also don't seem right to not talk about it. Fashion has always been political, and it's our job to make sure people know what is going on.

Someone on Instagram told me they hate that I call it that, but, what can I say, it looks like a beach ball to me! I again paired it with the red skirt, and I wanted to channel a cool girl who doesn't button her shirt up all the way, and maybe I did that.

There are some dresses that I get specifically wear as tops and this dress is one of those purchases. The top is by far more interesting than the skirt of this dress, so, layering a skirt over it is so easy and is one of my favorite ways to extend the life of a garment!

I love this outfit because of the coordination of the rose (technically, Google called this color Contessa, which is news to me!) skirt and the dress because though the dress does not have this exact shade of this color, it has a red, and the red and the rose work together and it's unexpectedly great!

Let's pretend the sun in shining and that it's not a dreary day outside!

The forecast is calling for endless rains soon, and I'm not surprised. Tis the season for rain and storms, but, it makes me really miss the normalcy of life prior to the pandemic. Not because I want to go gallivant around in the rain, but, because if something happens during a storm and we have to leave our home, where do we go? Where can we go? It's a scary feeling.

If you haven't noticed, I like a coordinated outfit! There is something about matching your hat to your skirt and everything being in harmony that makes me so happy with an outfit.

Another day, another pink ensemble, but, as I've said before, I'm totally okay with pink taking prevalence in my outfits. Especially in a not-so-light world at the moment, a light color like pink is a nice reminder that things can good.

I have never bought anything from Nordstrom, mostly because it's intimidatingly large and high priced, but, when my f a v o r i t e blogger launched her spring line with the brand Halogen at Nordstrom, you know I'm going to support it.

This skirt is massive, dramatic and is so me. Pink? Yellow? Organza AND tulle? It's me. I decided to not go 100% dramatic, and paired it with a light pink ruffle tier sleeve blouse and nudey beige heels and I'm in love. Could it use a steaming? Absolutely, but you know, I have to keep 100% somehow.

It is hot and stormy, and I'm just trying to survive this Thursday.

This top gives me prairie and cottagecore vibe, and I know that's the point, but I'm resisting the urge to style it that way. No offense to those who rock those looks, because it's an aesthetic I appreciate, but it's not for me. Microfloral either feels very prairie or 90s and there is no in-between for me.

Sometimes you buy an item and go "oh" when you put it on. That was me with this dress, worn as a top here. I bought in on thredUP (with the previously worn pink blouse) and I swear, I thought it was an off the shoulder dress, but, it's an one shoulder dress and I was a little disappointed. Not in thredUP, or the item itself, but in me, for not being able to see or read correctly. You see, I'm not into asymmetrical things, and an one shoulder top is by definition, asymmetrical. I tried wearing it as a tube top, which works, but I lack the support to really keep a tube top up, so, one shoulder it is.

I styled this dress as a top for a more cool weather outfit. Short skirts and dresses are a definite warm weather vibe and though it looks like it should be warm, it's chilly still!
