It's officially Spring, and officially "April Showers" month, so it's about time we dust off the trench coats and wear them during this wet and transitional season.
I have three trench coats, which admittedly, is excessive, but, when you live in a climate that has a lot of rain during Spring, you learn you need them all. Here are three ways to style a trench coat for the Spring season.
Thrifted trench, thrifted turtleneck, Universal Standard Diana wide leg jeans, thrifted boots
This trench is made of windbreaker material, almost, so it's great for repelling the cold rain, and it's short, so it's not as long and almost cumbersome as full length trench might be.
I know that wide legs aren't known for being peak rainy day cuts, but, since these are not dragging, and because I paired them with a heeled boot, all is well! I could definitely see this outfit being worn on a rainy day commute, with a coffee in hand. It could be my shaggy hair cut, but, it reads 70s to me, and you know I love that!

Thrifted trench, thrifted turtleneck, thrifted skirt, thrifted boots
This trench is the traditional, fashion trench. It's water repellent and it's khaki, and it's the neutral coat of everyone's dreams. I paired it with a chenille turtleneck and a leather skirt for warmth and texture. It's a comfortable and chic outfit perfect for afternoon shopping and lunch.

Thrifted trench, thrifted blouse, thrifted pants, thrifted mules
The third and final trench is also is a traditional trench, but it's slightly shorter than the last. I see it being worn to the commute to an office job, and I made a business casual office appropriate outfit, with a pattern mix twist!
If you don't own a trench coat, I recommend buying them secondhand from Poshmark, Depop or thredUP, as they are such a classic coat to have, and will never go out of style.
