It's Sunday, and it's a very somber Sunday. With the pandemic still roaring, and the tragic killing of George Floyd, it doesn't at all seem like a normal Sunday, and, it shouldn't be.

It's rare that I am public about how I feel about the things that happen in the real world, but I should note that I am not a complacent ally to the Black Lives Matter movement. I am an active proponent for reform of all kinds, including police, and I have been for nearly a decade. This tragic death is another senseless killing of a black person and it has come to a boiling point.

It doesn't seem right to talk about fashion, but it also don't seem right to not talk about it. Fashion has always been political, and it's our job to make sure people know what is going on.

Yes, I am that person who, when it is 80+ degrees outside, layers. I shouldn't, I know, but, like, I want to.

I like to repurpose the removable ribbon or fabric belt that comes with dresses when I'm not using them at that moment, and my fave way to repurpose them is to wear them as a coordinated neck tie!

I added a ribbon to this old Altar'd State hat because I wanted a sunhat with a ribbon, so instead of buying a new hat, I bought a ribbon for $4 and tada! A new hat.

I bought this dress on Poshmark for summer, because it's off the shoulder, in a bright color, and it's in general, pretty basic and perfect for a hot day, like today!

I'm not going to screech about how much I layer--you've read and seen it before--so, let's talk about the 80's vibes being thrown. Puffy sleeves are such an 80's throwback that I am loving. I have always had a thing for sleeves!

I layered the puffy sleeved top under a mockneck dress and put a pink rosette skirt over top for a cutesy look!

Happy Saturday!

When I bought this skirt, I knew I was going to pair it with pinks and whites and creams, but, I realized that I had an almost matching top to the blue in the skirt, and tada, here we go! It's a warm Saturday and the limited, lightweight clothes are perfect for...not going outside.

It's Memorial Day weekend, and thankfully, I have Monday off. I don't want to complain about having a job during a time when 38 million people in the US do not, but, I am so happy to have a long weekend. I have 0 plans for the weekend, which I shouldn't anyway, given the pandemic, but, it's refreshing to see a few days of nothing planned ahead.

It's time for the beach ball top!

Someone on Instagram told me they hate that I call it that, but, what can I say, it looks like a beach ball to me! I again paired it with the red skirt, and I wanted to channel a cool girl who doesn't button her shirt up all the way, and maybe I did that.

There are some dresses that I get specifically wear as tops and this dress is one of those purchases. The top is by far more interesting than the skirt of this dress, so, layering a skirt over it is so easy and is one of my favorite ways to extend the life of a garment!

I love this outfit because of the coordination of the rose (technically, Google called this color Contessa, which is news to me!) skirt and the dress because though the dress does not have this exact shade of this color, it has a red, and the red and the rose work together and it's unexpectedly great!

It's another Monday, and May is almost already over. You know what they say, time flies when there is a pandemic going on.

Jokes aside, green and pink is a combination of showcased before here, so this is nothing new, but it's a good combo™.

Let's pretend the sun in shining and that it's not a dreary day outside!

The forecast is calling for endless rains soon, and I'm not surprised. Tis the season for rain and storms, but, it makes me really miss the normalcy of life prior to the pandemic. Not because I want to go gallivant around in the rain, but, because if something happens during a storm and we have to leave our home, where do we go? Where can we go? It's a scary feeling.

If you haven't noticed, I like a coordinated outfit! There is something about matching your hat to your skirt and everything being in harmony that makes me so happy with an outfit.

Another day, another pink ensemble, but, as I've said before, I'm totally okay with pink taking prevalence in my outfits. Especially in a not-so-light world at the moment, a light color like pink is a nice reminder that things can good.

I have never bought anything from Nordstrom, mostly because it's intimidatingly large and high priced, but, when my f a v o r i t e blogger launched her spring line with the brand Halogen at Nordstrom, you know I'm going to support it.

This skirt is massive, dramatic and is so me. Pink? Yellow? Organza AND tulle? It's me. I decided to not go 100% dramatic, and paired it with a light pink ruffle tier sleeve blouse and nudey beige heels and I'm in love. Could it use a steaming? Absolutely, but you know, I have to keep 100% somehow.

It is hot and stormy, and I'm just trying to survive this Thursday.

This top gives me prairie and cottagecore vibe, and I know that's the point, but I'm resisting the urge to style it that way. No offense to those who rock those looks, because it's an aesthetic I appreciate, but it's not for me. Microfloral either feels very prairie or 90s and there is no in-between for me.

Sometimes you buy an item and go "oh" when you put it on. That was me with this dress, worn as a top here. I bought in on thredUP (with the previously worn pink blouse) and I swear, I thought it was an off the shoulder dress, but, it's an one shoulder dress and I was a little disappointed. Not in thredUP, or the item itself, but in me, for not being able to see or read correctly. You see, I'm not into asymmetrical things, and an one shoulder top is by definition, asymmetrical. I tried wearing it as a tube top, which works, but I lack the support to really keep a tube top up, so, one shoulder it is.

I styled this dress as a top for a more cool weather outfit. Short skirts and dresses are a definite warm weather vibe and though it looks like it should be warm, it's chilly still!

I'm donning a sunny yellow skirt for a not so sunny day!

When I bought this skirt a few months ago on Poshmark, I wondered why it was modeled so weirdly by the seller, and then I tried it on and realized why: the lining was way too small for the size of the skirt. I'm talking about 4 sizes too small. So, I did what anyone else would do when you can't return something--I altered it! I cut the lining out and magically, it was much more comfortable and wearable. I'm not too good to alter secondhand items if it means I can keep them out of the garbage!

I think there is some hyperbole when people talk about fast fashion and it's durability and life. I, like many others, used to only shop fast fashion, and I still have clothing from back then that I've worn dozens of times that has not worn out, and I'm not particularly gentle on my clothing. This skirt is originally from the A New Day line fro Target, and per it's DPCI, it's from 2018, so it's not too old. But, it's secondhand fast fashion, and the mindset is that it's not going to last a long time, which isn't necessarily true. People will write off a thread being loose as the item falling apart, and instead of trimming the thread, they completely disregard the work that went into making the item, especially since it was probably not created sustainably or ethically. I think there is a difference between an item legitimately being tattered and unwearable and an item that needs some adjusting. We cannot all buy first hand ethical, sustainable items, and there is definitely a divide between thrifty people who are trying to be more ethical and sustainable, and those who buy everything first hand.

Happy Monday!

Honestly, pink and yellow is a favorite combination of mine, and this blouse is darling! I scored it on thredUP and it's chef's kiss, perfection. Pink is slowly overtaking my wardrobe as the dominant color, and you know what? I'm alright with that. Especially since it pairs well with my true love yellow.

For full transparency, I am a thredUP ambassador on Instagram, so I was offered a credit to buy an item or items on thredUP and create monthly posts.

Don't be fooled by the light pouring in, it's been a cold and sometimes dreary May thus far. It's hard to not revert back to Winter dressing when it feels like Winter has returned instead of late Spring. Yesterday started out with temperatures colder than on Christmas. Happy Spring, am I right?

I combat my urge to retrieve my sweaters out of storage--I just put them away!--by wearing trench coats! To me, a khaki trench is an iconic yet classic Spring item and I pull mine out each Spring to keep me dry and warm, especially when April's showers (and March's temperatures) continue into May.

Shout out to the widest part of my body: my lovehandles.

I'm told that I should hide them with items that graze over them, and it's true that I do usually do that, as I'm partial to an A-line skirt, but, here I am, not hiding them. Honestly, I'm terrified when I wear things that show those curves because, sometimes, I don't like myself.

It took me years to get used to the body I had to find myself in, and it took even more years for me to like it, but, I'm entitled to not like it sometimes, you know? But, sometimes I do, and this is one of those times.

Recently I saw an old street style photo of Elle Fanning in a Victorian style blouse and black velvet sleeveless dress, and I knew I could somewhat replicate that look! I like the sleeves of this new to me but secondhand blouse, and I knew that it was exactly the semi-sheer blouse that I needed for the look. The sleeves, you guys, THE SLEEVES.

Whenever I get a garment, I always think about how I can style it in multiple ways, because I am not someone who buys an item to only wear it once or one way. So, when I got this dress, I knew I wanted to style it under and over skirts, and I thought the black pleated midi would be a good choice!
