Silk and faux leather, bows and pleats, and yellow and black. Great combinations for fall.
Yellow, as I have proclaimed many a time, is my favorite color. Especially mustard, and so, this silk number I have had in my professional wardrobe for a year now, is the perfect blouse. It is the only silk shirt I own, and I was SO LUCKY that someone had it for sale on Depop for $15 because holy heck is it amazing. It has Gucci vibes but it's definitely not Gucci. I originally thought it was satin, but I looked at the tag, and nope, it's silk. So, I clearly don't know my weaves, textiles, and fabrics.
I thrifted this skirt in mid summer because I knew that if I waited until late summer or early fall I would not find a pleated faux leather skirt for an affordable price secondhand, because demand. So, I got this for $10 on Poshmark, and I looked today just for fun, and I saw a similar one for $30 that has a lot of likes, so, I'm glad I bought ahead. I, as you have all seen so many times, am a fan of pleated midi skirts, so having a faux leather one in my cold weather wardrobe was only natural, and I will wear the ever loving life out of it.

A few years ago, I bought a pastel pink velvet pleated midi skirt. This year, in summer, I bought a mustard yellow velvet pleated midi skirt. They are cousins and I love them both, and this yellow one is P E R F E C T for fall. C'mon.
So, let's get it out of the way, sheer blouses are not a fall thing. But, I thought the sheerness and whiteness of it mixed with the texture and color of the skirt was interesting! I made the blouse more fall-like by layering it over a yellow lace tank top, and I really like the coolness of the outfit.

It's Autumn equinox, and like many other people out there, Fall is my favorite season. I can't tell you why--maybe it's the scents or the gradual coolness of the weather. Maybe it's the drizzle of rain and gray skies, the yellow and orange leaves, and the food, or, maybe even the holidays--but, regardless of the reasons, it's here and I could not be happier.
I took the day off work (coincidentally, not just because it's the first day of fall, how strange would that be?!) and my husband and I are planning to go to a local apple orchard and pick some apples. It's easy to social distance at a huge apple orchard with acres upon acres of apples. So, we'll likely be a-okay doing so. Plus, we'll be wearing masks, so, we'll be sure that anyone we do come in contact with won't be getting anything from us!
As September crawls to an end, and the pandemic is still going strong, we have to find ways to make ourselves feel better. It's weird, I know, but, everyone is in a rough mental state, for good reason, and we're looking towards many more months of this. So, if apple picking at an orchard while social distancing and wearing masks makes me feel a little better in the head, than I'm going to do it. Plus, fresh apples!

It's Friday, and I don't know about everyone else, but, this week has been a long one. I didn't even realize that Labor Day was Monday, considering I worked it, but, it feels like it was last week. I'm looking forward to the next 48 hours of rest and relaxation by staying home and sleeping for as long as I want.
